Q

Considering destiny--which I believe to be a choice of directions on any given path, and the dealing with obstacles that arise on said path--where do you see life in 10 years? Ideal destination?

Hmmm, tough one. 10 years from now I have no idea where I will be. I forsee some big changes up ahead in the next 10 years for me. I'm going to keep striving to be the best artist and person I can be. I will hopefully put out a full length album. I'm going to continue acting. I want to book a national campaign this year. And I'd like to tour with my music and a small band. Above all I want to travel, so I'm casting out several lines to be able to do more of that. Whether with acting, music, or volunteer work, I want to get out of New York City more. Maybe even move. So this may be more of a 5 year plan, but it's a start :)

Q

what musicians and singers have been your inspiration? what inspires you to write songs? who are your favorite singers/bands now?

Sadie Hart & the High Vibes responded on 01/16/2012
A

hi! oh, these questions are tough, but good ones! i've been greatly inspired by so many artists-mostly pop vocalists with SOUL! Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder, Whitney Houston, Freddie Mercury, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Sara Bareilles. I also admire artists who are able to sing with more subtlety like Ingrid Michaelson, Feist, Jewel, M. Ward, Connor Oberst, Ben Gibbard, Taylor Swift, Ryan Adams and are still able to portray so much emotion without such a huge sound.
I'm inspired to write by my emotions. Some experiences and ideas and feelings are too strong to keep inside. They sort of haunt me for days and I wander around trying to capture the poetry of it all in a notebook. When I have time I sit down with my guitar and if I'm lucky, it all melds together :) Right now I am listening to tons of new stuff thanks to Spotify. Mostly Jessie J, Gotye, Ingrid Michaelson, Melanie Laurent, The Civil Wars, Bonnie Raitt, and Beirut.

Q

hi Sarah, do you come from a musically talented family?

Sadie Hart & the High Vibes responded on 12/06/2011
A

Umm yes and no. My parents are not musicians, but they had a sweet record collection that I'm tryin to steal! My cousin, Johnny Henry, is a country artist out of Nashville/St. Louis, and I have an uncle who plays a mean 12-string!! Xo

Q

What is your favorite christmas song?

Sadie Hart & the High Vibes responded on 12/06/2011
A

OH man!!! That's a tough one!! When the time is right-ahem-AFTER Thanksgiving-I actually LOVE Christmas music. So I am on the fence. I love O Holy Night, and Silent Night. I grew up singing it at church and in Christmas choir concerts, so I must have sung tons of this music over the years. I love Johnny Mathis singing any Christmas song. I love O Little Town of Bethlehem. I love This Christmas...Ohhhh.... Duh...My FAVORITE Christmas song? All I Want For Christmas Is You. Mariah Carey.

Q

Where is your favorite place to buy produce in NYC?

Sadie Hart & the High Vibes responded on 11/29/2011
A

HA! GREAT QUESTION SARAH! I like Trader Joes, because they have what I like and it's cheap. However, so much of their produce is over-packaged and that is wasteful, so if I had my way, I'd shop at the Union Square Green Market all the time. Everything is fresh, local, and amazing. And most of it is unpackaged so you can take your own bags and shop away. You can also recycle textiles there (old towels/sheets/clothes, etc) AND you can compost. YAY NYC. And yay for your good question :)
